Hello friends,
Hope your week’s walking in the right direction—because today’s newsletter is all about putting one foot in front of the other (and keeping those feet happy while you’re at it).
First up, we’re talking about the power of walking for adults with type 2 diabetes. You don’t need a gym membership, fancy shoes, or a personal trainer named Chad—just your own two feet and a little consistency. Walking is one of the simplest, safest, and most powerful tools to lower blood sugar, protect your heart, and boost your mood. Who knew something you’ve been doing since age one could be such a health powerhouse?
Speaking of feet… they deserve some love too. We’ll go over foot care tips that can help keep those hardworking heroes pain-free and fungus-free. Let’s face it—our feet have carried us through a lifetime of questionable shoe choices and weekend warrior moments. They’ve earned a little pampering.
And for our Exercise of the Week, we’re moving up the chain to your hips with Hip CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations). Don’t worry—it’s not a new car model, but it will help your body handle all the miles you’re walking. These slow, controlled movements improve hip mobility and joint health, keeping you flexible, balanced, and less likely to pull something when you bend down to tie those freshly pampered feet.
So lace up, loosen up, and let’s get moving—one step (and one hip circle) at a time.
Stay strong, stay steady,
See you inside,
Doc Mike
Benefits of Walking for Adults With Type 2 Diabetes
If you have type 2 diabetes, walking may be the easiest “medicine” you can give your heart. A long-running study of older adults found that people with diabetes who walked at least one mile per day were about half as likely to die from any cause over the next 10 years compared with those who did not walk. Even more impressive, they were about five times less likely to die from other cardiovascular causes (like stroke or heart failure that wasn’t due to a heart attack). That’s a huge benefit from a low-stress activity most of us can do for free.

Healthy Feet For Life
They carry you about 115,000 miles in your lifetime—enough to circle the globe more than four times. Yet most of us don’t think about our feet until they hurt. From blisters and bunions to cracked heels and fungus, problems can sneak up fast. The good news is that keeping your feet healthy doesn’t take much—just a few minutes a day of simple care can keep them strong, smooth, and pain-free.
Exercise of the Week: The Hip CARs
If your hips feel tight, stiff, or just plain old cranky, there’s a good chance you’re not moving them through their full range of motion often enough. One of the best ways to fix that is a mobility drill called Hip CARs — short for Controlled Articular Rotations. It’s simple, powerful, and can make a world of difference in how your hips feel and move.
